Why every tyre gets balanced
No wheel and tyre weighs exactly the same all the way round. The valve hole takes a little weight out of one side of the rim, and every tyre has heavier and lighter spots from the way it is built.
At speed, those few grams become a vibration through the steering and uneven, patchy wear across the tread. A balancer spins the wheel, finds the heavy spot and shows where the weights go. Our vans carry one, so the job is finished properly at the roadside rather than left for a workshop visit.
When your size is not on the van
We ask for your tyre size on the phone so the right tyre is loaded before we leave.
If your size is unusual, we tell you on the phone and give you a realistic time to get it, rather than turning up without it. Where the damaged tyre can be safely repaired in the meantime, we will say so.

Tyre replacement questions
Do I need to replace tyres in pairs?
Not always. If the other tyre on the same axle still has plenty of tread, one new tyre is fine. If it is noticeably worn, replacing both keeps the car braking and handling evenly. Many all-wheel-drive cars need all four tyres closely matched, and we will tell you if yours is one of them.
How do I know a tyre needs replacing?
In New South Wales a tyre must have at least 1.5mm of tread, and the wear indicator bars moulded into the grooves show when you are getting close. Replace it sooner if you can see cords, bulges or deep cracks in the sidewall, or if the tyre is around ten years old.
Can you replace a tyre at night or on a public holiday?
Yes. We run 24 hours, 365 days. Any difference in the price is told to you on the phone before we move, never on arrival.
What happens to the old tyre?
We take it away. Disposal is included in the price we quote.
Can I pay later?
Afterpay, Humm and Zip are accepted at the kerb alongside card. Businesses can also use a fleet account, FleetCard or AmpolCard.
Do you need my locking wheel nut key?
Yes, if your wheels have locking nuts. Have the key ready when the technician arrives, and check it is back with you before they leave.
Worn, damaged or flat?
Read us the size on the sidewall and tell us where the car is. That is enough for a price and a van.
